Sitting at a desk hunched over for hours on end will not only lead to muscle stiffness but also spinal misalignment as well. Walking around with poor posture is just as bad because it causes chronic tension that leads to discomfort in the upper back region and pressure on discs in the spine. Standing up straight is also important because it helps support muscles that are being used constantly while sitting or standing (such as those in the lower back).
